Honor’s next flagship, the Magic 8 Pro, is shaping up to be one of the most feature-loaded Android phones of the year. According to fresh leaks, it won’t just carry Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, it’ll also be the only flagship using that chip with 3D Face ID.
Magic 8 Pro is the only Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone with 3D Face ID
While most Android phones have settled for under-display scanners alone, Honor is going dual-auth again. The Magic 8 Pro will reportedly feature both 3D ToF face recognition and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, giving it a rare one-two punch in biometric security just like its predecessor, the Magic 7 Pro.
This sets it apart from rivals like the Vivo X300 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Pro, which will also ship with high-end hardware but rely on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500.
Camera specs: 200MP telephoto lens leads the charge
Leaked camera specs suggest Honor is going all-in on photography for the Magic 8 Pro. The rear setup will include:
- 50MP main camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor
- 50MP ultra-wide lens
- 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a wide aperture, 1/1.4-inch sensor, and ~85mm focal length
That periscope zoom alone puts it in elite territory, rivaling the most aggressive mobile camera systems we’ve seen in 2025.
Big battery, fast charging, and premium display
The leak also suggests a 7,000mAh+ battery, which would make it one of the highest-capacity cells in any Snapdragon flagship to date. Pair that with 90W fast charging, as spotted in China’s 3C certification listings, and the Magic 8 Pro seems poised to last all day and then some.

- Expected launch: October 2025 in China
More Magic 8 models are coming
The Magic 8 series won’t stop at the Pro model. Here’s a quick breakdown of the other expected variants:
- Magic 8: 6.58-inch OLED, likely Dimensity 9500
- Magic 8 Mini: 6.3-inch display, Dimensity 9500, targeting compact users
- Magic 8 Ultra: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 1/0.98″ OV sensor + 200MP Samsung HP9 periscope lens with 4.3x–7x zoom
The Mini and Ultra are expected in the first half of 2025, while the Pro and base model debut next month.
